This July Luke and I were invited to help out on the necropsy of the humpback whale “Festus” (SEAK-ID 441). This humpback whale had arguably the longest sighting history of any humpback whale in the world. While the loss of this animal in Glacier Bay has been sad, it is fascinating to see what happens when the bounty of a whale is made available to the animals of the Park.
